Welcome to Sports Essence Mobile Massage Therapy
Growing up in Miami Florida, I never had any thoughts of working within the health industry much less being a massage therapist. I moved to Texas in 1983 where I graduated from high school, thereafter I worked in various industries. My occupations were from hospitality (front desk) in the hotel industry, bookkeeping to office management.
Sometimes life brings changes that you don’t expect. In 1995 my mother had a stroke I had to quit my job and from there on I became her caregiver.
The experience forever changed me. I was taught patience. learned to deal with obstacles and find solutions to those obstacles and above all how much I loved and appreciated my mother. It was the hardest but the most gratifying job I ever had and I was happy to do it.
One of the task was having to take her to her Dr.’s appointments and to Physical therapy and there is where my choice to do something in the health industry came about. When I dropped her off for her physical therapy appointment (which was only anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes) I didn’t think it was sufficient time for any significant improvement and she didn’t either. I was frustrated and I always thought If I ever have the opportunity to make a difference in the health industry I would take it.
I am graduate of the Massage Therapy Program at Houston Community College of Health Science located in the Houston Medical Center and also attended Texas School of Massage in Houston, Tx. where I obtained my Sports Massage Certification. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
