#Essential Oil

When setting an appointment for a massage with your licensed massage therapist ask about essential oil and how it can be used to enhance your massage session.   Essential Oil can be beneficial when used for relieving muscle pain and tension or in a device for aromatherapy to assist you in relaxation.  Essential oil can also be combined together to bring a delightful scent to lower your stress and promote good emotional health.

Some essential oil for example can be peppermint, which assists in alleviating muscle pain.  Passion Flower can help with sleep and relaxation.   Other oil combinations can soften and nourish the skin. Other oils can enhance the scent of your home.

Some examples of essential oils are…..

Eucalyptus- assist in opening sinus passages and reduce emotional feelings such as fear, doubt   and has other health benefits.

Peppermint-reducing muscular pain, an emotional use would be for tired and worried feeling.

Lavender– assists with athlete’s foot, dandruff and other conditions. It has a relaxing and a feeling of peace.

Ylang Ylang No. 1 (Complete)-can be used for lessening pain and loosening muscle tightness.  Also emotionally feeling loved and having encouragement.

Vetiver – an antiseptic and a stress reliever.  Can be used for assisting in sleep and has a calmative effect.  Emotionally may relive issues of nervousness, fear and fear of making choices.

Lime-used as antiseptic, reduce stress and improve mental clarity.  Emotionally gives a sense of well-being.

Most essential oils should be used with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil which is considered sterile, none greasy and fast absorbing.  Other oils may be olive, kukui, peanut, vegetable oils and a few others. The use of the carrier oil will dilute the essential oil so it can be used on to the skin.  Some carrier oils do become rancid so always inquire about the shelf life.

Essential oils are produced in many parts of the world and is an example of how popular essential oils are.  When choosing the oil for you always research the oil and the distributer so you acquire the oil that is right for you.  There are some essential oils that need caution or should not be used, so it’s very important to read contraindications about the oils you will be using.  Always follow the directions on how to store your oils and always store them out of reach from children and your pets.

Using Essential oil can be a wonderful experience if it’s in a massage or aromatherapy within your home.
