Pre-Event Massage is a good way to get started before your event. It is usually performed a few days before the event or on the day of the event or practice. Pre-Event massage is usually performed by a therapist the athlete is frequently acquainted with due to the knowledge the therapist has of the athletes needs. When this type of massage is administered it is not considered a substitute for a warm-up. Time length should be only 10 to 20 minutes
with concentration on the muscles being used. This type of massage should not be painful so deep pressure massage should be avoided.
The goal in this type of massage is that the athlete feels completely, absolutely and physically fit and capable of achieving the ultimate goal set forth.
